Sample Materials

As an equipped4enterprise subscriber, you would normally access materials through our online management system. However, to give you a taste of what's available, we've made a small collection of sample materials available below:

Murder Most Foul! (enterprise capability)

This activity presents your learners with the opportunity to make decisions, and to justify them to the rest of the group. Understanding why a decision is made and being able to communicate this effectively to the group is good practice for the learners as enterprising people. Set your group the attached decision-making task. Divide them into groups of 4 or 5. After they have completed their initial decision-making exercise, facilitate a plenary session where you can decide as a large group on the final six. Read the profiles on each of the people chosen. This is also an excellent introduction to discussions on stereotypes and pre-conceived ideas based on occupation. [ open in new window ]

Definition Dash (business and economic understanding)

A fun game to introduce the main characteristics of enterprising people to your learners. Print (and laminate - optional) the individual characteristics of successful enterprising people. Stick them up around the room so that they are clearly visible and accessible. Print the relevant definitions onto transparencies or display them, one by one, on an interactive white board. As each definition is displayed, the learners must locate the correct characteristic and stand beside it until everyone has stopped. You may wish to play music in younger year groups; when the music stops they must be at their characteristic of choice. Before moving on to the next definition, make sure that you confirm the match and everyone moves to that characteristic.[ open in new window ]

Deposits Game (financial capability)

This activity is aimed at learners with little experience of money-handling, but who have had a general overview of this topic. Put signs up around the room offering deposit options (eg: ISA, current account, savings account, car, under the mattress, shares portfolio, property). Give your learners a certain amount of fake money and ask them to make it work for them. They are then to go around the room and pin their money (with their name on it) to the signs they feel would make their money work hardest. Encourage them to think outside the box, eg a group of them may decide to club together to invest in shares with a higher return for a higher investment, etc. After they have all "spent" their money, analyse where it has been deposited and why. Ask the group to decide amongst themselves what the top ten earners would be. [ open in new window ]
